East Hampton & Portland Junior Firefighters complete extrication training
On the weekend of April 27 & 28, the East Hampton and Portland Junior Firefighters and their Advisors gathered in East Hampton for vehicle extrication training. On Saturday, students reviewed a lecture on the basic components of vehicle extrication led by Instructor Petrucelli. During the lesson and afterwards, students conducted a tool lab in which they were able to operate all types of rescue equipment and utilize stabilization equipment. On Sunday morning, the group gathered at Fowler’s Auto Wrecking to put their skills to use. Instructors Swan and Judd utilized multiple vehicles to demonstrate many different ways to stabilize a vehicle and access a trapped patient. We are grateful for Fowler’s Auto and Belltown Motors for providing a great learning environment for the junior firefighters to learn while having fun. Many instructors in our organization began their fire service career as junior firefighters and we couldn’t be more excited to help this group of junior members start out on the right foot in their training. Looking forward to working with them again in the future!
